The 2026 Juneteenth Celebration – Hagerstown is a three-day cultural observance, community gathering, and historical reflection honouring the enduring legacy, survival, and contributions of Black Americans. The culminating event, the Celebration of Survival at Wheaton Park, transforms the park into a vibrant center of cultural expression and community engagement. This free public event features live musical performances, spoken word, poetry, health and wellness activities, youth programming, nonprofit outreach, line dancing, educational exhibits, and family-centered experiences. One of the signature features, Black History Through Fashion: Living Portraits of Legacy, brings historical figures to life through fashion, storytelling, and performance, allowing attendees to encounter the spirit and impact of Black history in an immersive and visually powerful way.
More than a festival, the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration – Hagerstown stands as a public affirmation that Black history is American history. It recognizes that Juneteenth is not simply about freedom declared, but about survival, perseverance, cultural legacy, and the continued pursuit of justice, dignity, and community empowerment for generations to come. See June 18 and 19 for Memorial Prayer Brunch and Masquerade Ball details.
