Volunteer Opportunities

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers who can assist the Local Race Director and Welcome Committee with a variety of tasks for the USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships July 26- July 29, 2018.

Volunteer shifts will be approximately three hours, volunteers will receive a free tee-shirt, meals, and an appreciation gift.  

About The Event

The National Championship event is comprised of four days of racing that occurs on three different course styles: the time trial course, the road race course and the criterium course for riders ages 11 to 22. Visit Hagerstown anticipates 800 to 1,200 participants, most of which, will participate on all three courses.

Volunteer Orientations

Volunteers must attend one orientation session which will last approximately one-hour refreshments will be provided by Jimmy Johns of Hagerstown

As we near closer to the event, volunteers signing up after July 15 or traveling from outside the area can request an electronic copy of the volunteer orientation.

Thursday, July 26: Time Trial, Boonsboro, MD
Friday, July 27: Road Race, Day 1, Clear Spring, MD
Saturday, July 28: Road Race, Day 2, Clear Spring, MD
Sunday, July 29: Criterium Race, Downtown Hagerstown, MD

What to Bring & Wear as a Volunteer!

Please wear comfortable clothing that is weather appropriate as the USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championship is a rain or shine event.

We do ask you to wear sneakers and do not wear any open toe shoes.  For more information on what to wear and bring please Click Here for a list of useful items. 

Upon Arrival to Your Volunteer Shift

If you are scheduled to assist with set up on Wednesday, July 25, please report directly to the race area at the intersection of Netz Road and Route MD 67, south of Thompsons Gas in Boonsboro, MD and report to Joe Jefferson.

If you are volunteering at the host hotel Welcome Tables Tuesday, July 24 and Wednesday, July 25, please report directly to the hotel you have been assigned to, note volunteer assignments will be issued on or before July 23, 2018.

If you are scheduled to volunteer July 26- July 29, upon arrival please Check-In at the Blue Canopy Volunteer Tent to ensure your waiver is on file, receive a briefing of the day, receive your volunteer credentials and task assignment. Please refer to useful addresses below on where to park & approximate Check-In locations.

Useful Addresses 

Time Trial: Boonsboro, MD                        
Start Finish: South of The intersection of Route 67 & Netz Road 

Volunteer Parking: Route MD 67 Parallel Parking and the Field Behind Thompson Gas, entrance to the field parking is at the MD 67 Park and Ride. Use 6480 Appletown Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713 for your GPS

Volunteer Check-In will likely be right of MD 67 before you approach the Start/Finish.

Road Race: Clear Spring, MD                            

Clear Spring Middle School 12628 Broadfording Rd, Clear Spring, MD 21722

Please Park at the Clear Spring Middle or High School. Volunteer Check-In will be located in the Clear Spring Middle School Parking Lot.

Criterium: Downtown Hagerstown

At this time, we recommend Rochester Lot, located off of W. Washington and S. Prospect for Volunteers. The address to the lot is: 31S Prospect St, Hagerstown, MD 21740

Along with any street parking in the downtown area. Parking is FREE on Sundays. Volunteer Check-In will be located at 16 Public Square, outside the CVB Administrative Offices. Please plan to check in at least 15 minutes prior to your Volunteer Shift.

More suggested parking locations may be added the week of July 23rd, so check back!
